Hi, Bob...
The invasive plants that I believe to be campanula glomerata were here
long before I was. This was my mother-in-law's house, and she planted a few
things that her friends gave her many years ago. When I started making my
borders, there were only halfdozen or so plants, but they spread like crazy
once the area around them was cultivated, and some tiny bits of root
travelled along with some old iris that I transplanted. The plants look
exactly like every campanula glomerata that I have seen photos of in my
extensive collection of garden reference books. The flowers are quite
lovely and the foliage spreads so thickly that it even chokes out most
weeds. It would be highly desirable if only it would behave!! Am thinking
I'll put some of in a rough area that I weed-eat, and see how it competes
with burdock.
