'Six Hills Giant' is nepeta gigantea. I purchased my plants from Bluestone
Perennials. You don't need huge plants to start with. Believe me, they'll
get big soon enough. I tend to think of it as a small shrub. It's maybe
about 2-1/2 feet tall, but very bushy. Be careful not to plant anything
delicate near it because it could get lost among the stems of the nepeta.
The blue flowers aren't as strong as other blues -- more misty than
anything. I have it with my pastel roses and it front of a stand of white
phlox. Think of the colors of russian sage and you've got this variety of
nepeta.
If you want a stronger blue in a nepeta, I have one called siberian
(siberica?) catmint. It's taller (about 2-1/2 to 3 feet) with stronger
stems. It doesn't flop about, the large flowers are definitely a strong
bluish purple, and the leaves are larger than other catmints. I have it
next to lysimachia punctata and it's purple blooms contrast quite well with
the golden blooms of the lysimachia. They are the same height and are
currently fighting each other for garden space. I think the fight is going
to be a pleasant show.
