lysimachia punctata

Joanie:

Funny you should ask about this one. I was noticing yesterday that the
plants I transplanted last year to another side of the yard aren't yet
blooming, but the original clump is going all out. I'm thinking that
there's a sun/soil difference: one is in more sun and richer soil than the
other. These plants are multiplying faster, however, so they are putting
their energies into this instead of flowers.

Anyhoo, I'd say that it stays in bloom about a month. I'm going to
deadhead it this year (thanks to "The Well-Tended Perennial Garden") to see
if I can get a longer bloom period or a rebloom. It's about 2-1/2 feet
tall and isn't very full. However, it spreads by runners and will get to
be a good-sized clump. Lysimachias like their space and will encroach
mightily onto others'. I have to stake the ones in rich soil because
they'll flop. Both are in a full sun situation, but one bed is crammed
with large roses and those lysimachias get filtered part of the day (not
much).

Then again, I only have plants I don't have to pamper. This one's a
keeper.
