Fellow gardeners:
I've been saying since last year that the way to
handle these obstreperous children having their own
way in our gardens is with tough love. A little more
deadheading with the weed-whacker is called for.
Don't let them become complaicent and smug. Move them
around a lot so they don't have a chance to become set
in their ways. Withhold the fertilizer and water.
They may have withdrawal symptoms but it will toughen
them up. We have to let these babies know who's
boss.!!
Having said that, I will go out and Oh-so-gently stake
a few of these little cupcakes that need Mommy's help
to stand alone, whisper a few sweet nothings of
encouragement, and threaten them with mayhem if they
don't respond.
