Re: Hydrangeas

Donna,
I can attest to the propagation of hydrangeas this way, works great.

Last year I "collected" a stray puppy who proceeded to grow into a large dog
that loved hydrangeas. Would pull them out of the ground, and I would be
outside with a flashlight looking around the yard for my poor hydrangeas.
Have 4 plants, and he pulled everyone of them up at least 4 or 5 times, and I
would find it and replant it. He had other favorites, too, like my rain
lilies. (Should have seen hubby and me on our knees searching through the
grass looking for the bulbs. Now I KNOW hubby really loves me!)

Anyway, I finally tried sprinkling cayenne pepper around his "favorites", and
one attempt was enough to stop this little game of his. I now have four very
small hydrangeas with blooms bigger than they are, so I guess they will
survive. BTW, Kemberly, if you are interested in another hydrangea, I have a
small start of the variegated lacecap that I started with Donna's method, and
you are welcome to it if you want it. I will add it to your stash I have
started for you!
