sweet potato tubers

I read somewhere that all the colored leafed potato vines were being
thrown out after deciding on the best sweet potato. Every night the
researchers would toss the rejects on a pile out back and the next
morning they were gone--home to graced some one's garden. Some one must
have decided we all would love to grow the gorgeous vines. And that we
did.
Nancy East Tennessee zone 6b so smoky the headlights are all on the
cars on the highway. Need some rain despearately
