Here's a question for Doug. If Viola corsica is planted in the vicinity of
the many Johnny-Jumpups would one consider the seed a hybrid? I ask as I
used some seed from the NARGS list and got plants looking as the description
of corsica in most references. How far away from the other large flowered
Violas would you plant it to swap the seed with confidence?
The plants that I purchased came from Blue Meadow in Mass. This is a very
fine nursery handling many unusual plants. They told me they use a seed
purchased in Germany identical in every way to corsica (several years testing
in Mass.) but not labelled as corsica.
Summing up, I wanted to contribute the seed to a list and to a distant friend
but maybe it cannot be labelled as corsica. I am happy to have this news.
