Hi Connie,
This is a subject that is making the rounds on all the lists that even
remotely are connected to gardening. It is also tied in with the irradiation
the postal service is attempting without discrimination of contents.
I can not speak for the others on the various lists, but I said what I
had to say at the time and have moved on to do what I can off line. I am in
contact with several small seed companies, a few others. We have been in
contact with the Postal Service and ... and.... they do no have a clue. They
do not know what they are going to do or when they will do it, or how they
will do it. Laws are in place on the import permits. Period. Other countries
have been advised to update their procedures. I have already bumped into
this one in Australia. There will be exceptions allowed, but I do not have
the details on this one as yet. To be honest, I am up to my unmentionables
in alligators in a small barrel and do not have time to cover the same
territory over and over. Not fussing at you personally, simply a fact. There
is more to this big old world than what takes place on gardening lists.
Having said that, the underground will continue to do what it has always
done..if it comes to that.. exchange seeds, and plants.
