Re: salvia for shade/combos

Hello Kemberly,
As it just so happened we had temps drop to 26 yesterday morning. I was
out there with the camera capturing some of the better moments. It was misty
and freezing at the same time, so lots of frost on the blooms and foliage.
The ornamental kale with all it frilly ruffles and deep purple hearts had a
frost like the rim of a glass. The leaves themselves had patterns of white
crystals running all over the broad leaves with networks of crystals. Also
the hellebore foetidus with its long narrow leaves in whorls looked good
etched in silver-white frost. The blue aconitum blooms were covered in frost
crystals. Lots of other photo ops as well... but wind came up and nothing
was holding still long enough for a decent exposure. Got a bit over half a
roll, though. All on slides, I am afraid. Trying to put together a good
series for a lecture on fall blooms & foliage in the garden.
