Claire: This is me - I live in zone 9 (books say 8b - maybe for winter but
not for summer). I usually dress my front garden with these purple
Ornamental Kale, Bright Lights Chard, Blue Lobelia and Pansies (antique
colors). Down here it's a great look - especially since we do not have the
advantage of the beautiful winter architecture that you do, especially when
it includes colorful foliages, icecylces and snow.
I could seen how these would stand out in a brown winter dead garden but a
nice large pot with these as part of the "combo planting" would be nice.
