Re: annuals for Gene/ nurseries

Kimberly
I agree with you about our local nurseries. I seem to find better plants at the local nursery than at Wal-marts or Home Depot or Lowe's. That not to say that I haven't purchased things there. So many times nurseries have gone out of business because the locals do not support them as they should. I have found that at our local Wal-Mart the plants are not taken care of . They look so ratty that I don't understand how they can sell them. Another thing, Wal-mart has the same old thing ever year, I can never find anything differant or unusual......

Everyone seems to be attempting to re-invent themselves from the major
wholesalers on down. I have a feeling there is a whole lot more shaking down
to come.

Gene: This is why we must convince people to stay out of Home Depot and WalMarts for thier gardening choices. Even if one only plants annuals, one should still support the privately owned nurseries nearest them. I'll have to admit that I've found a few finds at our local Home Depot from time to time - but these are primarily in the indoor tropical section. I'm true to my favorite nurseries and support them as much as I can----my husband says too much!!
