Greenhouse

Off the subject, but....
I went to an open house of a new commercial greenhouse in Whitewater,
Wisconsin (!), Saturday and it wowed me. Five acres under one glass
roof, heated by a closed hot water system from "by-product" hot water of
a nearby power generation plant (the only way to afford it here), plants
watered by an ebb and flood floor system, moveable overhead hooks for
baskets, moveable spray nozzles in some bays for cuttings, all
controlled, of course, by computer. Poinsettias are the subject now; as
soon as they are shipped, bedding plants will be seeded, and in the
fall, chrysanthemums. Unfortunately, all for midwest Walmarts and garden
centers, no retail sales.
The sea of red with islands of pink and white was impressive. Oh, to
have a greenhouse - even a little one!
