For a nice and easy perennial foxglove, I would recommend Digitalis
lutea. I grew it from seed several years ago and have had no hardiness
problems here in zone 5b. It is in a raised bed of leaf mold and sand
in an east exposure that is fairly sunny. It's a small-scale plant, for
a foxglove, and has petite leaves and small but charming pale yellow
flowers for a long period. I think I got the original seeds from NARGS
seed exchange.
