I find that if you cut amsonias back about one third in the spring that you
won't have to stake them later. My hubrectii grew about 4 feet tall and
even though it has a lax habit, I don't have to stake it. The nepeta in
front also tends to give it some support. Leaves are still a lovely golden
color.
