On the advice of someone from this list (earlier this year), I use slats
from plastic venetian blinds. I cut them into 4-6" lengths and use a
sharpie to write the names. I moved house in August, and everything I
dug and transplanted had these markers in their pots.
You could probably search mallorn's archives for other suggestions from
that session.
