What I like about the PVC tubes is that it is fast and they do not get knocked
out of their place during spring clean up- I have many plants to mark and no
time-so this works. 
Most plants only get to stay were they are at for one or maybe two years. So
when I need to pull up the tag it's easy and can be re used-I just cross out
the old name and turn it upside down and that's it.
 When a plant does happen to find a "permeant" spot I can just pound the stack
all the way into the ground and forget about it-knowing that its good for many
years. I won't rake it out and the vermin won't displace it.
