Hi Dee Ann,
I am far from an expert on germinating from seed, but was successful with
Lisianthus (Eustoma or prairie gentian), even though Thompson and Morgan
rate this as "challenging" to germinate. It is a half-hardy annual, so
probably won't overwinter. These are great plants for cutting. They take
some time to grow so plan to start in January to obtain a plant that will
bloom all summer. I used a simple set up with soiless mix, a plastic dome,
and fluorescent lights. I also have had good luck with Digitalis and
Delphinium, although the Delphiniums were easier to germinate than they were
to keep going once I planted them. :-)
