Re: Winterizing Z5 (IL) perennial beds?
Nancy
when speaking of new growth, I have pholx that are putting up new
growth, salvia, clametis, daylilies, iris, and I don't know what
else, just noticed this in the past few days. I was amazed.
this is really weird weather we are having even for Mississippi. I've
got impatients that have not been damaged from the couple of morning of
frost, however they are located underneath oak trees. that won't last
long because the oak leaves are loosing their leaves
I have done my winter clean-up and mulched, but everything is coming up
through the mulch. I have got the prettiest yellow bloom on one of my
roses.
I'm wondering if we are gonna have a winter here. we are having temps
in the lower 80's and nights in the 40's and 50's no rain in sight
of course and this appears to be the forcast for the next 5 days.
I hope there is no need to worry about the plants that are showing new
growth. I'm sure mother nature knows what she is doing.
