PLEASE don't ask about woody plants on this list. There is another
list specially dedicated to that topic, as this one is dedicated
to herbaceous perennials. General rule of thumb is if it's a tree,
shrub/bush, or woody vine then it's a woody plant.
But I don't want to be a total ogre, so I'll give you an answer
too. :)
What you're probably thinking of is Kolkwitzia amabilis. It's a big shrub
that gets up to 15'x10' and is covered with soft pink blooms in spring.
Unfortunately, beauty is only one season deep, and it doesn't really
do much for the rest of year. The fruit are interesting though -- if
you look at one closely, they're like little dead chickens, complete
with feet... :)
