Re: Coastal Newcomer.

Hello Laura,

Nice to here from someone in my neck of the woods. I do feel very rural down
here sometimes, talking to all these good people around the world.
Whereabouts are you in Newquay, near the cliff top or further inland? I
know the area very well and many of our customers have very exposed coastal
gardens so don't despair. If you want to e-mail me privately with your
address I'll happily send you our coastal list which, sin of sins, has trees
and shrubs as well. But you'll be delighted to know that many perennials
will do well with you because they are underground during the worst of the
winter storms. Also, as we are so mild down here you'll almost find it
subtropical. I don't know what sort of climate you left behind, but
hopefully you'll soon get to grips with the vagaries of the Cornish weather.
The old joke goes that The United Kingdom gets weather, the rest of the
world has climate. How true!
Hope this is of some use.

Tracy Wilson. Duchy of Cornwall nursery, Cornwall.
