Re: Winterizing
I just saw the "Rebecca's Garden" segment in which she buried some borderline
perennials (for her zone 3 area) in a trench in her garden. Apparently, she did
it with some potted specimens and also with some which she dug up and put into
big pots. She said to dig a trench as long as the tallest plant, can't remember
how deep, lay the plants in and cover them up with soil and straw - or was it
straw and soil. Has anyone else done this? I went to her website, but can't find
the information - maybe it was an old show.
I went out and eyed my rough-tilled veggie garden, and the butterfly bushes and
roses and a rosemary which may be already dead( I had it in the house-too dry),
so I dug up one rose, one Buddleia, and stuck them and the rosemary pot and a
few other things in the trench. So we'll see next spring. Nothing to lose.
