Hello all,
My dilemma of whether to chop down and dig up tubers of the canna's has
been solved with last nights frost. The leaves resemble nearly steamed
spanish topped with wet used red paper napkins "flowers" SO tomorrow is
the digging day, any volunteers to help? NO, I thought not.
As I toured the yard, flower and vegetable gardens today I see that I
will need to get the wagon or wheel borrow out again and remove all of
the plants that the frost finished off. Begonias, dahlias, impatience,
coleus, basal ect. As yet the fever few, pin cushion, small yellow
coreopsis, pinks, black eye susan, vincia and a few others remain in good
condition. I also noticed that the turnips planted to improve the soil
in the veg garden, when they are turned under, are large enough to
eat, that is IF either of us liked them. We will put out the word to
friends and family to come help them self to as many as they wish, before
"we" (more like he) turns them under.
Happy fall gardening
