The answer is more cats. I have seven, plus a few belonging to local farms
that drop by to use the cat door, and pick up a quick snack. (So did a
couple of skunks, but that's another story). They do bring in the odd bird
(mostly starlings) but dozens of mice, voles, chipmunks and squirrels (and
at least once a year a weasel). I never lose crocus, tulip or lily bulbs to
pests.
