I think it's a relatively shy bloomer that may take a couple years to become established before it blooms.  I'm not sure about it's cultural requirements. In my two plantings, it is on the edge of or in the middle of something else:  ceratostigma plumbagonoides and pachysandra.  The pachysandra planting is totally shaded and I have to pull the stems apart to see the sternbergia. The C.S. planting is on a dry slope in nearly full sun.

Not much help, right?
