I'm not impressed with the hardiness of the few gingers I've tried. I don't
remember which species I planted, however. I had one that came back a
second year, bloomed, and had really lovely foliage. But it didn't make it
through the last, admittedly harsh, winter. Of course, I managed to kill
one that I bought potted and kept in the greenhouse, too, so maybe it's just
me! But I will try it again, I want very much to grow them!

Speaking of which, how hardy are "pineapple lilies"? Sorry, I don't have
the proper name in my head right now. I planted a couple this summer, and
was told they are borderline hardy here. Does anybody have any experience
with them?
