Re: ot - African Violet help desperately needed

You can get the leaves to root. Do that by slitting the underside of a leaf across the veins, not all the way through. Put the leaf in contact with moist potting mix. Cover it with plastic wrap to keep the moisture in.
A couple of tiny air holes in the plastic helps to keep the leaf from rotting as they don't like wet environments. Keep it out of the sun, but in good light. I haven't done this in quite a while, but seem to remember it took very little time for the roots to show.

HELP,
An old African Violet that had belonged to my late in-laws got knocked over and it broke in multiple pieces. The part of the main stalk/stem stayed with the root ball, but has no leaves. There are other sections that have leaves but no root. I have repotted the stem and roots and have other bits in water.... I seem to recall my grandmother rooting African Violets, but I was never into them.

Thanks,
Cheryl
