Re: Epimediums

Well, Walter, I'm sure tardy enough with this reply...what with
assorted work deadlines, a week without power from Isabel and trying
to catch up from that, I shall never get my email sorted, I fear.

My 3 favorites today - well that's a tough one for sure, but I'll
offer these:

Epimedium x 'Kaguyahime' - extremely interesting leaf form that
starts out mottled red in spring and I see this fall offers some red
fall color. The flower is also enchanting - bicolor.
Epimedium grandiflorum 'Lilafee' - was most impressed with the
flowers this spring - many and charming
E. x youngianum 'Azusa' has a silver overlay to the leaf, which is
most unusual.

I would adore to visit Garden Visions. I expect if you email Darrel,
he'll tell you if and when you can visit. I think their bloom time
may be later than mine as they are much further north - most of mine
have bloomed by summer.

You can't beat seeing plants in person, that's for sure. I just wish
I could retain names with plant faster than I seem able to do. Would
like to not have to keep scratching around for tags and repeating the
name 15 times every time I walk past a plant in order to figure out
who it is....sigh.
