I first used venetian blind slats (metal ones) as labels, with writing done  
with a Sharpie. The printed labels will probably last longer than the Sharpie  
writing, but I found the slats themselves to be short-lived--they did stay in 
 place much of the time. Maybe if you use such long pieces that you have them 
 about a foot deep, they'll work. But I'm sticking with my Eon labels.  And  
yes, my labels last because of the laser toner in the printer; reports from  
those using inkjet printers are not encouraging.
