I don't see any replies to this, Nancy. My info is not much, since I
just bought my first carex. In fact, this plant is meant for for my
cousin who lives in Zone 6 or 7. (Ardmore PA?) After buying it as a
garden gift for them while I was on vacation down in Pennsylvania, I
then learned they'd left for two weeks in Russia and I had to return
to northern NY before they got back. Now I must keep this pretty
thing alive over my Zone 4 winter: Carex dolichostachya
'Kaga-nishiki' (Gold Fountains). It seems much more attractive than
any of the photos I see on the web.
Maybe I'll find some carex for my zone. I've not grown any to
date. It was fun to see your post so soon after returning home with
Kaga-nishiki; hope you find answers to your questions.
