zone 5, Catskill Mountains (really the foothills thereof), just thought
y'all might like to know, that we had a frost the night before last, that
did in almost everything that was still blooming, among which were:
dahlias, cosmos, zinnias, morning glory, asters, nasturtium, gladioli;
it didn't kill the hollyhocks, nicotiana, dianthus, feverfew, veronica, an
annual salvia, even though it was strong enough to freeze the water in a
vase, and not just a crust, either.
Last night was cold, but in the low 40's, I believe. It is possible that
there won't be another frost for several weeks at least. But considering
that it didn't get into the 60's at night until the end of June, that is
some short growing season.
