There's also day lilies, orange hawkweed, spotted jewelweed (Impatiens
capensis, but check out Impatiens pallida, a very near relative at
http://www.mallorn.com/pom/Sep97/
), or the native orange milkwort.

What about Belamcanda chinensis, the blackberry lily? It has leaves like
an iris, grows about 1 1/2' high, orange flowers with darker reddish spots
inside (like a lily), fruit ripen in fall and look like blackberries.
