Dahlias free to a good home

I was given a couple of "dinner plate" dahlia tubers as a gift a couple of
years ago (part of a great "gardener" wedding gift that I loved and my husband
rolled his eyes at). I grew the dahlias for 2 summers and have decided I
don't have the place or dedication to grow them right now - I'm more into
hardy perennials.

The flowers are red and white, 6-8 inches across and very spectacular (I don't
know the variety). The plants grow to about 5 feet in height. One tuber
produces many branches and blooms that blossom from mid / late summer until
the frost gets them. They need serious staking. The tubers grow a fair bit
over the summer and can be split when planted in the Spring. The tubers are
not hardy and have to be dug up for the winter where the ground freezes.

Dahlias are expensive to buy ($4-5 for one tuber) and mine are free to a good
home. I live in Ottawa and will mail them to you for the cost of postage or
in exchange (I'd kill for Lobelia Cardinalis seeds). E-mail me if you're
interested.
