From the description of white with red/burgundy hearts, you can limit
the type down quite a bit. It's NOT ugandense, which is beautiful but
has blue flowers, and it's not speciosum which I believe has all red
flowers. My vote would be for thomsoniae, which fits the description.
If that's not your flower, a perusal of the Sunset *Western* Garden Book
or any book on tropicals will list the various types, and flower colour
and blooming time and bushy vs. vining will help you narrow things down
considerably.
