If that's not your flower, a perusal of the Sunset *Western* Garden Book
or any book on tropicals will list the various types, and flower colour
and blooming time and bushy vs. vining will help you narrow things down
considerably. >>

It's not C. thomsoniae, I have that one. The leaves one the mystery
plant are much narrower and this plant is not a vining one like C.
thomsoniae. This plant also grows on a single strong stalk from 6-10 ft high
with the top 8-12" with elongated tubular trumpet shaped cream flowers
approx. 3-4" long, with a hint of burgundy on the stalks. A little old lady
told me that with the frost hits it, the stalks turn black and the seed pods
turned turqoise.
