Checked in Hortus III, could it be C. indicum-
"Shrub or woody herb, lvs mostly whorled, lanceolate-oblong, to 6 in. 
long, entire, glaborous, cymes axillary or in panicles, flowers white, 
corolla tube to 4 in. long; fr. red or purple, subtended by red-brown 
calyx. Malay Arch.; naturalized in s. US"
