I have an elephant ear that is 30 yrs. old. I put it in the ground in the
summer and bring it into my sun room in the winter. It first bloomed after
it was about 7 yrs. old. It always blooms in the summer (four or five
blooms one after the other) and often blooms inside during the winter.
I was not aware that they bloomed until this happened. The blooms are like
large callalillies, thick and creamy.
My other surprise was an aloe plant that is very old. After about 15 years
it put up a tall thin spike with tiny coral flowers. My sister has one
that is about 30 yrs. old and has never bloomed.
