I think the word you are looking for is XERIC - These are enviroments that
have conditions that promote rapid loss of water from the soil/plants.
XEROMORPHIC plants have protective physical (Morphological) characteritc that
reduce water loss.
A XEROPHYTE is a plant that can grow were water is scarce.
