Gaura/Elephant Ears

I have been following the discussions on both Gaura and Elephant Ears. I
looked up both in one of the online garden encyclopedias and have a couple
of questions. I live in Z5 in Massachusetts and wonder if anyone has had an
success with Gaura in this climate. The picture looked like something I
would like in my garden. The encyclopedia said Z6.
Also, when I looked up Elephant Ears, it brought up a perennial called
Bergenia, not Colocasia. Are they 2 different perennials? It didn't have a
listing for Colocasia.
