If you store those like dahlias, I put them in paper bags with moistened
vermiculite and stored them in my unheated basement in boxes. Every month
I checked them to see if they were drying out; if so, mist the tuber with
water and put back in the darkness.
On the other hand, I put my canna tubers in a large bucket covered with a
towel. I misted them the same way and stored them in the unheated
basement, too. These came through the winter the same as the dahlias.
Your choice. Either way, I would suggest that when you are ready to bring
them in, cut the foliage first before digging them up. Wait two days for
the tuber to "cure" in the ground and then dig up. Wash all of the dirt
off the tubers and put them outside in a shady place to dry. Place in
storage.
