It sounds like a Montauk Daisy; I don't have the Latin name at hand. At my
previous home, I had one that after 2 or 3 years occupied a space 5' in
diameter. The deer and perhaps less sun have meant that the one I planted
here (10 miles north) is barely surviving. But the MD is a nice plant if
you're into daisies -- I guess it is among the last to bloom each year.
