One thing that helps to keep the varmits from eating anything in my
flower beds is good old daffodills. They have kept the squirels away
from the tulip and crocus bulbs, and the voles from eating the hosta
leaves. I still have a large population of both varmits, but I guess
they are finding their meals in the woods. With the help of the daffs
and the cats most thing in the beds are safe, now if the dog was only
smarter than the rabbits I'd be a happy camper. I did find a box turtle
eating on one of my native ginger flowers this past spring, that maybe
one of your culprits, too.
