wildflower germination/ Trillium


Hello Holly,
    There is a form of Trillium nivale (Dwarf Snow Trillium) that grows here
locally. Foliage is wonderful blue-green to show off the pristine white of the
tiny little trillium blooms. This little baby only gets around 3 or 4  inches high
in bloom. Bloom period is the latter part of February and into March depending
upon weather here locally. It is referred to as the "Indiana Form". The species is
hard enough to get your hands on... the Indiana Form even more rare.
    Every spring... long before anything sown the previous year is due to
emerge... you can find me out in the propagation area walking between the rows
looking for little green noses. Worse than a first time expectant father....
