Re: Winter perennials?/ Hellebores

Hi Donna,
You won't have any problems growing hellebores in your area. One of the
largest wholesale suppliers of hellebores is in Georgia. I have had them here in
my garden for over 12 or 14 years now without any problems. They have been through
a low of -30 without snow cover and highs well over 100 and our drought this
summer. They come from the mountains and meadows of Croatia and Slovenia, so
....... they can handle most anything after established.
For a combination I enjoy in my garden try Hellebore fotedius, Arum italicaum,
Autumn Fern and Primula juliana Early Girl. great combination for a winter garden.
