Louise and others
I think I'm a little late in answering the question of hellibores and
hardiness, but here's my two penn'th anyway. My mum in South East
Scotland has them and complains they seed about like weeds and she's
forever pulling them up from the gravel paths. They don't get much in
the way of heat or sun up there (My skin still retains its
semi-translucent blue colouring from having grown up there), but they
get some nasty snow ice and bitter winds, wind chill down to about
-20C for several days on end.
This year I decided not to plant winter pansies in the tubs my spring
bulbs are in but to cadge some of mum's hellibore seedlings from her
intstead. Anyone know how soon these young plants flower? The leaves
are nicely architectural, but I would like a bit of colour to brighten
up the grey winter days.
Any other plants others can suggest?
Thanks
