Susan-
I've had Patrinia in my garden for 4 years now. Mine has white, parsely
style blooms in the late summer, autumn fairly aggressive grower in Zone 9.
It's acts as a ground cover and will grow up a trellis if one is near.
Spreads very similiar to a wandering jew plant. Aggressive spreader but very
easy to pull out.
In my book the two mentioned have yellow blooms - similiar to a tansy in my
eyes.
it says:
P. scabiosaefolia - upright, variable perennial with leafy stems, ovate to
oblong, mid-green basal leaves, and pinnatifid, coarsely toothed, hairy,
lobed stem leaves, 6" long. From late summer to autumn, bears cymes, to 4"
across, in large panicles of cup-shaped, yellow flowers. Grows 3-7 feet tall
and up to 24" wide. From E. Asia, zone 5-9
P. triloba - clump forming, stoniferous perennial with palmately 3-5 lobed,
mid-green leaves, 1 1/2 - 4" across, turning yellow in autumn. In mid- and
late summer, branching, red-tinted stems produce panicles, to 4" across, of
small, fragrant, cup-shaped yellow flowers, each with a short tube and 5
spreading lobed. 8 - 20" tall. 6 - 12" wide. From Japan, zone 5-8.
The family is valerianaceae
I hope this helps you find the right home for your new plant.
Happy Gardening
