Hi Sue.
According to my book Patrinias are herbaceous perennials found in grassy
mountain habitats in Siberia and Japan. They have either yellow or white
cup shaped flowers in summer.
They are full hardy and should be grown in fertile, humus-rich, moist soil
in partial or deep shade.
My book mentions only one: P. triloba, which is clump forming and has small
fragrant yellow flowers in mid and late summer. 20-50cm height; 15-30cm
spread.
