I've put plastic down to keep tree roots from coming up into piles of
woodchips, etc. Found it doesn't really stop them because they will find
any hole or join. But, point I'm making is that when you remove it, the
ground underneath is bone dry and almost looks sterile...Will stop tap
rooted weeds and grass that are already in place, but wind blown seed will
germinate just fine in rocks or pebbles, believe me:-)
