Amateur Gardening is a full colour topical weekly magazine featuring
gardening news, show reports, how-to features, jobs for the week,
inspirational features, small ads and so on. In recent years it has been
competing more effectively with the long established market leader in
British gardening weeklies, Garden News.
I would say that Amateur Gardening is of very limited interest outside
Britain. By contrast New Eden (http://www.neweden,co.uk), Gardens
Illustrated and English Garden have more appeal to American readers.
The subscription price seems expensive but it's worth noting that while US
magazines seem to have high cover prices with deep discounts for
subscribers, in Britain it is more usual for the news-stand price to be
more modest and for the subscribers' discount to be much less - or possibly
non-existent; and about half the quoted airmail subscription price for
Amateur Gardening magazine is postage.
