Re: Nepeta/catmint


I agree that Nepeta sibirica is a plant worth growing.  Blooms for a long
period of time, flowers are held above the foliage, doesn't flop, etc.  You
don't, however, have the gray foliage which I find so invaluable in the
garden.  Nepeta subsessilis is another nepeta that doesn't flop.  It grows
about 18" tall and blooms from July to Sept.  Flowers are gentian blue.

As far as N. Dawn to Dusk goes, I find that it just doesn't cut the mustard.
Granted the foliage is nice--forming a tight mounnd--but it's pink flowers
just seem to fade into it's surroundings.  I was really disappointed with
this one.  Guess I just like plants that put on more of a show.
