RE: purple fountain grass

Nita, Since I have to put potted plants under a bench in the GH, I wait
until the last possible moment (the day of the predicted first freeze) to
cut back the grasses, Hibiscus, Fuchsias, Pelargoniums, Brugmansias &
Begonias that snooze away the winter in there. I don't take any more off the
grasses than necessary to get them under a bench. I keep the GH cool -
night temps about 50, but not cold and give each pot just a little water
every now & then. I think Claire's suggestion is a good one for your
climate, but you could try to winter one over. The worst that can happen is
that you must buy a new one next spring :).

Marilyn - I don't have a GH, but a garage that won't freeze due to a furnace
in the annex next to it...probably 35-45 degrees most of the winter. When
you put yours do you cut them back? Water at all in the winter?
Thanks in advance
